In-Clinic Diagnostics

Some health conditions in pets are not detectable during a physical examination. Because of this, we use in-house diagnostic tests to help us get an accurate picture of your pet’s overall health. Hartselle’s in-house diagnostics laboratory and digital radiography capabilities allow us to process many test results on site, typically within minutes. This is especially beneficial for urgent illness and injury cases that require prompt diagnosis and treatment.

Our IDEXX in-house diagnostic suite enables us to perform a variety of tests that help identify your pet’s condition quickly and accurately. Some of the tests that we conduct include heartworm 4DX for heartworm and tick-borne diseases, feline leukemia/FIV/HW snap test for cats, chemistry panels to check organ function, CBC to check red cell counts, white cell counts and platelets, thyroid testing, Parvo tests, fecal examination, and more. Some tests are sent off because it is more cost effective for our clients and at times a test requires a pathologist review.

We recommend blood work at your pet’s annual check-up, starting at one year of age, so that we can monitor the test results for trends and pick up abnormalities early to prevent disease. We also conduct blood work screenings for pets who are scheduled for surgery to ensure there are no underlying issues that might cause complications.

Hartselle Animal Clinic provides diagnostic services for pets in Hartselle, Falkville, Decatur, Priceville, and other neighboring communities.
